DR. RICHARD ARNOLD'S BACKGROUND
​Dr. Arnold is a graduate of Slippery Rock University (BSED), West Virginia University M.ED), Kent State University (Ph.D.). ​ He is the recipient of numerous fellowships and awards.  He has studied under fellowship with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) at Temple University and the National Science Foundation (NSF) at Boston College and Clark College.  
 
Dr. Arnold has served in a number of administrative positions in Public Schools and Higher Education.  Some of the administrative positions he has held in his career in Higher Education are: Associate to the President for Equity, Special Programs and Staff Development; Dean of Academic Affairs; Associate Dean for the School of Science, Management and Technology; Associate Dean for the School of Education at Edinboro University of Pennsylvania.
 
He has also served as Director of Curriculum and Instruction K-12 at Cleveland Heights-University Heights City School District in Cleveland, Ohio and Executive Director of Curriculum and Instruction in Crawford Central School in Meadville, Pennsylvania.  Dr. Arnold also serves as a consultant for both the Pennsylvania Department of Education and the Middle States Association. 
 
A widely sought after keynote speaker and educational consultant.  Dr. Arnold has been the keynote speaker for the Association of Teacher Educators (ACE) in Los Angeles, California; the Commencement Ceremony for Erie Conference on African American Affairs in Erie, Pennsylvania; and the Alle-Kiski Valley Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarship Program. 
 
Dr. Arnold is active in civic and community affairs.  He has served as member of the Registry for College and University Presidents; President of the International Institute of Erie; President of the Pennsylvania Black Conference on Higher Education and recently elected to the Westmoreland County Democratic Committee. 
 
Some of the numerous awards and honors he has received are the: Mary Davis Baltimore Award, Excellence in Education Award from the Erie Branch NAACP, Ebony Excellence Award from Edinboro University, Kappa Delta Pi, Chi Alpha Epsilon, and founder of the Pennsylvania Black Conference on Higher Education Think Tank later renamed the Richard E. Arnold Think Tank. 
 
A few of Dr. Arnold’s published articles include: Challenges Ahead: “Demographics and Issues of Retention”, Black Issues in Higher Education, and The “State of the Conference Address”, The Pennsylvania Black Conference on Higher Education, Inc,(University of Pittsburgh).  Dr. Arnold also serves as associate editor for the Pennsylvania Black Conference on Higher Education, Inc. Journal.
